Otaku
Today I dived into the subcultures of Japan's youth. I've spent one whole day in Akihabara, Tokyo's electric town stuffed with electronics, animes, mangas, games and otaku goods. Otaku is a Japanese term that refers to people with obsessive interests, commonly the anime and manga fandom, which also could be translated to geek or nerd. Since I am a big fan of Hayao Miyazaki, for some the father of anime and master creator of Princess Mononoke, My Neighbor Totoro and Spirited Away, I enjoyed my time in this colorful mind-blowing ambiance. Sadly I did not manage to visit the Ghibli museum, due to an insane demand on tickets one must book very much in advance. Later on that day I slandered through takeshita street an all pedestrian street with small independent shops that carry an array of styles. A place for setting new trends, which is also used by manufacturers to intermix their prototypes for test marketing.
