Dezaike

Today I will post some impressions from Toshi's family house in Dezaike where we ate Mochi, a street festival with Samurai, Oda Nobunaga's castle and temple ruin, Entsu-ji Temple with "borrowed" scenery and a mysterious saxophonist playing her enchanting music below one of the several bridges leading across the Kamo river. Lets get back to Mochi and get ready for this. It is a Japanese tradition to eat as much Mochi as you can in a short time during new years celebration. Now due to its stickiness Mochi fast eating may cause death through suffocation, which is reported by Japanese newspapers in the form of “new years death statistics” every year. Sachen gibt’s, die gibt’s gar nicht!

Mochi is a rice cake with sugar, soy sauce or nori.
